The Advanced Journal of Science and Innovation (AJSI) supports research transparency, reproducibility, responsible data sharing, and the long-term accessibility of research outputs.

Authors of original research articles, methodological articles, case studies, systematic reviews, and other submissions involving research data must include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscript.

The Data Availability Statement must explain whether the data supporting the findings of the study are available, where they can be accessed, and under what conditions. This requirement applies whether the data are publicly available, available upon reasonable request, included in the article or supplementary materials, restricted, obtained from a third party, or not applicable.

1. Purpose of the Data Availability Statement

A Data Availability Statement helps readers, reviewers, editors, and other researchers understand:

• What data support the findings reported in the manuscript.

• Whether the data are available to access, verify, reuse, or reproduce the research.

• Where the data can be found.

• Under what conditions the data may be accessed or reused.

• Why data may be unavailable, restricted, confidential, or not shared publicly.

2. Data Sharing Principles

Authors are encouraged to make the data supporting the findings of their research available in a responsible, ethical, and legally compliant manner.

Where appropriate, authors are encouraged to deposit research data in a trusted public repository, disciplinary repository, institutional repository, or other recognized data repository. Examples may include Zenodo, Figshare, Dryad, Harvard Dataverse, Open Science Framework, or an appropriate institutional or subject-specific repository.

Authors should provide a persistent identifier, such as a DOI, accession number, or stable URL, for datasets deposited in a repository.

Data should be shared in formats that are accessible, understandable, and suitable for reuse where possible. Authors are encouraged to provide documentation, codebooks, metadata, software code, protocols, or other materials necessary to understand and reuse the data.

3. Ethical, Legal, and Confidentiality Restrictions

Data must not be shared publicly when doing so would violate participant privacy, informed-consent conditions, confidentiality obligations, legal requirements, contractual restrictions, intellectual property rights, commercial confidentiality, data-protection laws, or the terms governing third-party data.

Where data cannot be made publicly available, authors must clearly explain the reason for the restriction and state whether controlled access or access upon reasonable request may be possible.

Authors must not disclose personal, confidential, sensitive, proprietary, or identifiable information without appropriate authorization and consent.

4. Required Location in the Manuscript

The Data Availability Statement should be included in a separate section of the manuscript before the References section.

The statement should be included on the Title Page during anonymous peer review if the statement contains information that could reveal the identity of the authors, their institution, or the research project. After acceptance, the final statement will be included in the published article.

5. Data Availability Statement Templates

Authors should select and adapt the most appropriate statement below.

Data available in a public repository:

The datasets generated and/or analysed during the current study are available in the [Name of Repository] repository at [persistent link, DOI, or accession number].

Example:
The datasets generated and/or analysed during the current study are available in the Zenodo repository at https://doi.org/[DOI].

Data included in the article or supplementary materials:

All data generated or analysed during this study are included in this published article and its supplementary information files.

Data available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request:

The datasets generated and/or analysed during the current study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.

Data available under controlled access:

The datasets generated and/or analysed during the current study are not publicly available due to [ethical, legal, confidentiality, or contractual restriction] but may be available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request and subject to [ethical approval, data-use agreement, or permission from the relevant authority].

Third-party data:

The data that support the findings of this study are available from [Name of Third Party]. Restrictions apply to the availability of these data, which were used under license or permission for the current study and are therefore not publicly available. Data may be available from the authors upon reasonable request and with permission from [Name of Third Party].

No new data generated or analysed:

Data sharing is not applicable to this article because no new data were generated or analysed during the current study.

Data unavailable:

The datasets generated and/or analysed during the current study are not publicly available because [brief reason]. Additional information may be available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request, subject to applicable ethical, legal, and confidentiality requirements.

5. Code, Software, and Computational Materials

Where research findings depend on software code, algorithms, computational models, scripts, workflows, or analytical tools, authors are encouraged to make these materials available in a suitable repository where possible.

Authors should provide:

• The name and version of the software or programming language used.

• A link, DOI, or persistent identifier for publicly available code or materials.

• Sufficient instructions or documentation to enable assessment, replication, or reuse.

• Information about any restrictions, licenses, or third-party dependencies.

If code or software cannot be shared publicly, authors should provide a clear explanation.

6. Data Access During Peer Review

Editors and reviewers may request access to underlying data, code, protocols, or supporting materials where necessary to evaluate the validity, integrity, reproducibility, or ethical compliance of a manuscript.

Such materials will be treated confidentially and used only for editorial and peer-review purposes. Authors should provide access in a secure and ethically appropriate manner.

7. Data Citation

Datasets used or generated in the research should be cited in the manuscript and reference list where appropriate.

Data citations should include sufficient information to identify and locate the dataset, including:

• Creator or author.

• Year of publication or release.

• Dataset title.

• Repository name.

• Version, where applicable.

• Persistent identifier, such as a DOI or accession number.

8. Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

• The Data Availability Statement is accurate, complete, and consistent with the data described in the manuscript.

• Data sharing complies with ethical approvals, participant consent, applicable laws, institutional requirements, contractual obligations, and intellectual property rights.

• Shared data are appropriately anonymized or de-identified where necessary.

• Data, metadata, documentation, code, and supporting materials are sufficiently clear for responsible use and interpretation.

• Any limitations on access, reuse, or sharing are described transparently.

• Links, DOI identifiers, accession numbers, and repository information are correct and functional at the time of submission.
